Privacy policy for Penetrex Balm Kenya
penetrex.co.ke collects your name and Kenyan mobile number to confirm and deliver orders. This policy covers what information is collected, why, who receives it and your rights.
Who are we and what does this policy cover?
Penetrex Balm Kenya is an independent information and order site for Penetrex Balm. This policy covers the personal data you give us or that your browser sends when you use penetrex.co.ke. The site does not sell products itself: orders are confirmed by phone and delivered by the product’s distributor in Kenya.
You can reach us at hello@penetrex.co.ke for any question about this policy or about your personal data. In this policy, “we” means the team behind Penetrex Balm Kenya.
We have written this policy to follow the principles of the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya. We try to ask only for what is needed, use it only for the reasons below and keep it fair and transparent.
What information do we collect?
We collect three groups of information.
Information you give us
- Your name, as you type it into the order form, so the operator knows how to address you.
- Your mobile phone number, so an operator can call you to confirm the order and the delivery.
- The content of your e-mail, if you write to us, including your address and anything you choose to include.
Information that comes with your order
- The page you ordered from, for example the price page or the home page.
- Campaign parameters that may be in the link you clicked, such as utm tags and similar campaign or click identifiers.
Technical information
- Your IP address and browser type, which your device sends automatically with every request to a website.
We do not ask for payment card numbers, passwords, ID numbers or health details. You pay on delivery, so no payment information goes through this site. Please do not include sensitive details in e-mails to us.
Why do we use your information?
We use your information for a small number of clear purposes:
- To place and confirm your order. Your name and phone number let an operator call you, check the details and arrange delivery.
- To deliver your parcel. The distributor that delivers your order needs your name, phone number and delivery details given during the call.
- To answer your questions. If you write to us, we use your message and e-mail address to reply.
- To keep the site secure. The IP address and browser type help us limit repeated or automated submissions and avoid duplicate orders.
- To understand which pages and campaigns bring orders. Campaign parameters tell the order team which link a visitor used.
We do not use your phone number for anything unrelated to your order or your enquiry, and we do not sell personal data.
Who receives your information?
Your order details are passed to the people who need them to complete the order:
- The order-processing and call-centre team that receives the order request, calls you to confirm it and records the result.
- The distributor that confirms and delivers your order in Kenya. The operator gives you the distributor’s details during the confirmation call.
- Our hosting and security provider, which runs the website and the order form on its servers and processes technical data such as IP addresses on our behalf.
These parties receive only what they need for their part of the order. We may also share information where the law requires it, for example in response to a lawful request from a Kenyan authority.
Does the site use cookies or browser storage?
The site does not set advertising cookies, and it does not run analytics scripts. It does use your browser’s storage for a few practical things:
- Local storage keeps campaign parameters, such as utm tags, from the link you arrived through, so they can travel with your order if you place one.
- Session storage remembers that the order popup has already been shown and that your order was sent, so the popup does not keep reappearing in the same visit.
This information stays in your browser. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings, and the site will keep working.
The pages load their fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser contacts the font provider’s servers, which can see technical information such as your IP address. Other than that, the site loads no third-party advertising or tracking scripts.
What are your rights?
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya, you have rights over your personal data, including the right:
- to be informed about how your data is used;
- to access the personal data we hold about you;
- to ask for correction of data that is wrong or incomplete;
- to ask for deletion of data we no longer need to hold;
- to object to the use of your data for a particular purpose.
To use any of these rights, e-mail hello@penetrex.co.ke with the name and phone number you used to order, so we can find your record. We will reply as soon as we can. If you are not happy with our response, you may also raise your concern with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya.
You may also decline an order during the confirmation call. If you do, the operator will not proceed with it.
How do we protect your information?
The site is served over an encrypted connection, and the order form sends your details directly to our order system rather than through e-mail. We limit the details that go into the order to what the call-centre team needs. If an order cannot be passed on straight away, a temporary record may be held so it can be retried, and it is removed when it is no longer needed.
No online service is perfectly secure, so we ask you to share only what the order form requests.
Is this site for children?
No. The site and its order form are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us details, write to hello@penetrex.co.ke and we will remove them.
Will this policy change?
We may update this policy when the way the site works changes or when the law does. If we make a significant change, we will update the text on this page.
For related information, see our order terms, the disclaimer and the contact page. You can also read about the team behind the site.
